about

lyrics

Like a shadow you move,
like waves that are always blue,
and time held me close in my place

I could carry on like that
the clouds are falling like mirrors
they meet the water and it meets
my eyes again

A sharp tongue and no will to care
Can hardly last past the morning

You were an island white
and the horizon would fade-
the mast a flag put down over me -
and I was giving

Like a shadow you move,
like waves that are always blue,
and time held me close in my place

Underneath the cherry blossoms
pink is flooding me above
a baby’s tongue or the sun
setting over a cloud
Painted by children
and washed away

The lies you told could stretch on for miles
Like trumpet vines and cockle shells and
White terns falling

Like a shadow you move,
like waves that are always blue,
and time held me close in my place

Your whispers behind the veil
No prayers from the wings that fall
Like snow -
And if you hear me cry at night
it’s just that I have seen light
