about

This has been one of my favorite songs for a VERY long time, from when I first discovered Sean Hayes in 2004 - handing out flyers for his show on the steps of Bimbo's, after Jolie Holland and Michael Hurley played. I was elated at this music discovery and so grateful to hear his songs over the years. This song came back to me this summer when I was listening to Lunar Lust at my Dad's in Minneapolis, where Sean once played in the backyard with chickens!

Years ago I got to work with Sean Hayes to write up all his lyrics at the time - such a fun project - and another reason I loved this song. I also came to appreciate the way he self-released his albums and did things a little differently in the music world within the industry, keeping it real. -Jessie

For Inspiration

What are you in love with
What makes you care
What gets your attention
and keeps it there

How are you to handle
How do you go on
Voices, choices
Am I left or right
or wrong

Go on, and make it
You will find your way
The answers
and the questions
Questions in the waves

Who are you in love with
Who makes you care
Who gets your attention
and keeps it there

Where'd you get your voice from
the one that sounds so pure
You give me inspiration
kind of makes me want some more

Go on, make it
You will find your way
The end is in the asking

You'll recognize the place
You'll recognize the face
